The Pillar College Psychology and Counseling Club (PCC) is designed to increase the professional aptitude and skills of our Psychology and Counseling students. Its purpose is to increase the knowledge and goodwill of Psychology through positive engagements and programs. PCC provides its members the medium to share ideas, support each other, build alliances and mentorship that will propel each member to attain their full potential. The PCC will act to uphold the ethical and legal standards of the field of Psychology as each member evolve as transformational leaders.
Member Eligibility: All students actively enrolled in at least one course at Pillar College are eligible for membership in the PCC and to participate in PCC activities, including voting in PCC Council elections.Join Us!

Advisor & Chair of Psychology & Counseling
Dr. Bradshaw is a graduate of Howard University where she earned her MBA, M.Ed. in Counseling and PhD in Counseling Psychology. She has worked extensively as an Educator, Administrator and Counselor. She currently serves as a Chair of the Psychology and Counseling Department and Associate Professor of Psychology at Pillar College. Dr. Bradshaw has fifteen-plus years of leadership in diverse work environments with increasing abilities in grant writing, staff development, negotiations, project management, and need analysis. She served as Associate Vice President of Associates in Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities and Lead Counselor for the Urban Medical Center Mental Health Division. She has provided individual, couples and family counseling, as well as group therapy to survivors of domestic violence/rape; and also provided services to individuals in need of anger management, impulse control and coping/resilience skills. Dr. Bradshaw is also an international motivational speaker. Dr. Bradshaw is a Presidential Member in good standing of the American Association of Christian Counselors and a Member New Jersey Psychological Association.

Cheryl Hardy graduated from Cornerstone University with a PhD in Clinical Christian Counseling, Master of Art in Clinical Christian Counseling and a Bachelor in Christian Counseling from Calvary Theological Seminary. Dr. Cheryl worked as a Program Supervisor for the Irvington, Orange & Passaic School Districts formally known as the Abbott Preschool Program. Dr. Cheryl was a Consultant for A Godly Women’s View blog talk radio & local cable channel. Dr. Cheryl was a weekly Co-Host and Relationship Expert for BKS1 Radio, The (O)nly (W)omen (W)ear (H)igh (H)eels Show. (OWWHH) Dr. Cheryl was in a movie /documentary in 2014. She is an author of 2 books, the first one title: A Time to Move the second book, New You Collections NYC Walk through the Inner Journey of the Real You. She was the Interim Director of Community Programs at Irvington Family Development Center, Irvington, NJ. She has a part-time private practice in Irvington, N.J. Dr. Cheryl is an Adjunct Professor at Pillar College in Newark, NJ teaching Counseling & Psychology. Dr. Cheryl loves encouraging people, bike riding, line dancing and reading.
Valedictorian of the Class of 2018
Nicole Herbig is the Valedictorian of the Pillar College Graduating Class of 2018, receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling and Psychology as well as an Associates Degree in Biblical Studies – an achievement she accomplished in only three years.
Among her many academic achievements, Nicole was also a member of the Student Government Association as Secretary for two years; faithfully serving the student body and Pillar faculty. Nicole is also a member of the Psychology and Counseling Club.
Nicole’s passion for Counseling and Psychology stems from a history of personal experience with family mental illness; simultaneously fueling her passion to co-found an organization. Functioning as a recognized 501c3, REBORN is a new form of non-profit aimed at supporting those who are struggling and bringing awareness to the suicide epidemic through specialized apps, local events, and college chapters.
Shortly after graduating from Pillar, Nicole was offered a position as a Mental Health Associate in the Eating Disorders Unit at Penn Medicine Princeton Health Hospital; an outstanding opportunity right out of college.
Nicole aspires to continue in the process of furthering her education by obtaining her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health at Messiah College in 2019, and hopes to one day own her own health and wellness facility.
Shining Star Class of 2018
SherrieLynn Lilley began her journey at Pillar College in January 2013 to peruse her dream of obtaining her bachelor’s degree in counseling. As an adult learner, embarking on such an adventure at this stage of her life would prove to be both challenging and equally as fulfilling. Navigating the hallways and corridors of Pillar College academically, pushed Sherrie to excel above and beyond her capabilities. However, the greater obstacle she had to overcome, was to navigate both physically and academically, the challenges of being a student who is blind. This would neither hinder nor deter Sherrie from her pursuit of excellence in her education.
As proof of her determination, Sherrie achieved several notable awards along the way. Over the course of her four year tenure, Sherrie earned a position on the Dean’s List and Presidents List without missing a semester. She also was selected to represent the college at the 2016 New Jersey Psychological Association Diversity Town Hall Meeting, where she spoke on behalf of her group, later receiving a commendation from the president of Pillar College. In addition, Sherrie was the recipient of scholarships awarded by the American Council of the Blind in 2014 and 2015. Finally Sherrie’s achievements culminated in her being honored with the Distinguished Award in Scholastic Excellence and Leadership , and the Beverly Busch Book Award for excellence in writing and rhetoric, at her 2017 Baccalaureate service as part of her graduating on May 20th, 2017.
Although this chapter of Sherrie’s academic career has ended, a new chapter begins as she peruses her masters in Mental Health Counseling at Fordham University in August of 2017.Sherrie continues to demonstrate high achievements having already been awarded an Assistantship Scholarship at her new college. It is Sherrie’s desire to exemplify what hard work and determination in the face of all odds including such a great one as blindness can yield if you do not give up. Sherrie lives by the scripture motto found in Genesis 50:20 which says, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” [NIV] Truly Sherrie has stepped into her season of saving many lives.
Outstanding Student Award Recipient Class of 2017
Mr. Leibnitz Gomez graduated with both BA in Psychology & Couseling as well as BA in Biblical Studies. He is the 2017 recipient of the outstanding student award and is the first Pillar College student to become a Certified Behavioral Assistant while pursuing his BA in Psychology and Counseling at Pillar College. “Lenny”, as he is affectionately known, received his certificate from the State of New Jersey Department of Children and Families division. The training was offered at the Rutgers University Behavioral Health Center (UMDNJ) in Newark.
The opportunity resulted from the Collaboration between Pillar College Psychology and Counseling Department and Associates in Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities, Inc., (AMHDD).
AMHDD is a 501© (3) non-profit organization located in New Jersey. The organization provides opportunities to people with Substance Use and Mental Health Needs in a Residential Setting, INTENSIVE IN-HOME/Outpatient setting, as well as Day Program Setting. AMHDD operates in Essex, Hudson, Bergen, Union, Passaic, Sussex, Middlesex, Mercer, and Morris Counties to provide a vast array of therapeutic and support services to those in our community facing overwhelming mental and developmental challenges.
Psychology and Counseling students are selected for the BA Certificate program based on their GPA and Interview with the Department Chair. AMHDD, Inc. also provides internship opportunities for Pillar Students.
