Dr. Sabrina Durand is a compassionate and dedicated mental health professional, committed to bringing hope and healing to those in need. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (NY #015009), she combines expertise, experience, and empathy in her work. Dr. Durand earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from the CACREP-accredited Capella University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Alliance University (formerly Nyack College). She also holds bachelor’s degrees in psychology and Teacher Education from Brooklyn College.
With a wealth of experience working with diverse populations, Dr. Durand provides individual, couples, family, and group counseling, addressing a wide range of challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, sexual abuse, and substance abuse. Currently, she serves as the Associate Professor and Director of the Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) program at Pillar College, where she fosters the growth and development of future counselors. Previously, she held the role of Academic Program Coordinator for the Online Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Alliance University.
Dr. Durand is deeply committed to nurturing students' academic, spiritual, and personal growth at Pillar College. She actively promotes an inclusive and diverse learning environment where students are encouraged to lead with integrity and compassion, aligning with the college’s mission of preparing servant leaders.
Beyond her professional roles, Dr. Durand is a mother, a sister, and a friend who values the power of meaningful relationships and community. Her dedication to connection and care is reflected in her mentoring of students and her work with clients, helping them navigate life’s complexities with resilience and hope.
Dr. Durand is also a published researcher, co-authoring two peer-reviewed articles: “Effect of Infidelity, Initiator Status, and Spiritual Well-Being on Men’s Divorce Adjustment” (Journal of Divorce and Remarriage, 2015) and “Spiritual Factors Predict State and Trait Anxiety” (Journal of Religion and Health, 2016).
Dr. Durand is a member of the American Counseling Association, the American Mental Health Counselors Association, and the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. She is also fluent in English, French, and Haitian Creole, demonstrating her commitment to multicultural competence and inclusivity by allowing her to connect with clients, students, and colleagues from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds. This multilingual ability reflects her dedication to fostering meaningful connections, respecting cultural diversity, and creating inclusive environments in her work and beyond.
