Maxine A. Bradshaw, PhD

Dean of the School of Behavioral Health and Social Sciences

Dr. Maxine Antoinette Bradshaw is the Dean and Professor of the School of Behavioral Health and Social Sciences at Pillar College.

She is Advisor to the Psychology and Counseling Club and the Pillar College Chapter of Psi Chi, the International Honors Society in Psychology. This Psi Chi chapter has been featured in multiple publications in the Eye on Psi Chi magazine. Dr. Bradshaw’s work at Pillar College extends beyond the confines of the classroom. She petitioned the New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA) to allow undergraduate students to participate in their Town Hall Diversity Meetings, and NJPA now fully accepts Undergraduate participants. She implemented initiatives including the Therapeutic Workshops and Leadership Training, which provide students and community leaders with experiential skills and psycho-educational training. Her Virtual Grief Group provides support and referrals to those experiencing grief; the TalkCampus initiative provides global 24/7 peer support for mental well-being and coping. Dr. Bradshaw’s Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Certificate Training workshops in collaboration with the Department of Human Services Injury Prevention Division in Jersey City allow participants to become State certified as First Aid Assessors. Her Pledge of Completion ceremony, student mentorship peer support services, and Family and Friends Class visits have been adapted throughout the institution. Dr. Bradshaw also joined forces with the Association of American Colleges and Universities to bring the National Day of Racial Healing to the Psychology and Counseling Department, the New Jersey Partnership for Drug Free NJ to bring awareness to the deleterious effects of the Opioid addiction crisis, and also collaborated with the Department of Justice FBI ‘s Community Outreach Unit to facilitate a conversation on Opioid Addiction and Recovery which was featured in the HBO series Life of Crime: 1984 to 2020.

Additionally, Dr. Bradshaw is one of the founding members and a member of the Board of directors for Winning Women, a certificate program for the empowerment of women; she currently serves on Pillar College’s Academic Council; Chair of the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs, (CACREP) Committee; the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) Standard III Committee; and on the Faculty Symposium Steering Committee. As a leader in the field of psychology, Dr. Bradshaw is a member of the following organizations: Psi Chi; American Counseling Association (ACA); Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (ACES); International Association of Marriage and Family Counselors (IAMFC); and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).

Dr. Bradshaw is currently a Certified Trauma Professional (CTP) and a Certified EQ-I Coach. She graduated from the University of the West Indies with a BSc. in Business with Upper Class Honors and from Howard University where she earned a Master of Arts in Business Administration (MBA), a Master of Education in Counseling (M.Ed.) and a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Bradshaw is a Pillar College representative and reviewer for the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AACU). She is also a reviewer for the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (AACTE), and the International Consortium of Educators (ICED). Her collaborative publications include When the Chair becomes the Bully, Tapping into your Super Power, Tapping into your Super Power: When Kids Pray, and Understanding Counseling and Psychotherapy. Dr. Bradshaw is a national and international leader, a lecturer, a researcher, a workshop presenter, and a public speaker for churches, organizations, retreats, and conferences. She has received accolades from the Association of Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities (AMHDD) Inc.; The Global Forum for Education and Learning (GFEL) as one of the Top 100 Leaders in Education and Psychology, and has been featured in the Marquis Who’s Who publication as an Educator who demonstrates exceptional achievements in her field and who has made notable contributions to society; and also as an Outstanding Individual of the Century. Dr. Bradshaw is married to her soul mate, Bishop Marvin Bradshaw Sr., and together, they Pastor Higher Dimensions Ministries Inc. in Newark, NJ. Her mantra is that God never stops working in you, and it is His power within that propels you to your destiny.
