Born in Hackensack and raised in Paterson, New Jersey, Dr. Kim Yancey James is an adjunct professor for Pillar College and the New York Theological Seminary Certificate Program. Dr. James also serves as the NJ State and Northeast Central Regional Director of Christian Education for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, International. Dr. James is also a NJ State Certified Social Worker, and has worked for the Passaic County Board of Social Services for 30 years. After being promoted to Senior Training Technician, she facilitated Life Skills & Job Readiness classes for clients. Before retiring from this position in 2015, she headed all staff training for the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) and Mandatory Civil Rights Training.

Kim is president and founder of Women of Divine Destiny, Inc. (WODD) a 501c3 non- Profit Corporation that addresses the needs of women in the church community through counseling, referrals, education, and scholarships. As president, Dr. James helped broaden WODD’s scope by launching a New York Chapter and facilitating conferences in the Bahamas, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, and Jamaica. A prolific writer as well, she is the author of Breaking the Silence! The Voiceless Victims of Physical and Emotional Violence.

Licensed to preach the gospel in February 1999 and ordained six years later, Dr. James has ministered at national and international conferences, retreats, and worship services. Dr. James is also the Elect Lady, Director of Women’s Ministries, and Executive Minister of the Paradise Baptist Church in Newark, NJ.

A graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., Dr. James continued her education with Graduate Studies in Communication Arts at William Paterson University. She graduated from New York Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree in 2005 and was chosen by the faculty to receive The Preaching Award that year. She continued her education at United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, and simultaneously graduated from the Robert Schuller School of Preaching in Garden Grove, CA, earning her Doctor of Ministry Degree in 2008.
