Winning In Business Network event hosted at Pillar College

June 3, 2022

A distinguished panel provided information for women entrepreneurs at the Winning in Business event hosted at Pillar College on April 23. This presentation was a collaboration between 211 Women’s Impact Network, started by Dupré Kelly professionally known as “DoItAll”  of the hip hop group Lords of the Underground, and Pillar College.

“211 Women’s Impact Network was created to help fill the gaps with tools and resources for women. After understanding that Newark’s total female population is 51.9% and females between the ages of 25-34 are the largest demographic in poverty, I felt it was necessary to ask questions to women in the community to figure out what was needed to help them thrive and not merely survive,” said Kelly in his opening remarks. “Today I’m excited to kick off this WINNING in Business initiative in partnership with Pillar College.”

The goal of the program was to educate women about resources available to them and give them the opportunity to network with other entrepreneurs. Pillar College has several degree programs that focus on business development, including; the MBA in Social Sector Management (online) which launched its first cohort in March, and the BA in Business Administration and Management (in-person and online), which has concentrations in Supply Chain Management, Project Management, Data Analytics, and Healthcare Administration.

This event was moderated by Bibi Steward, Owner of Modest Tea Boutique in Newark’s Central Ward and featured panelists Dr. Rosette Adera, Chair of the Department of Business Administration and Management, Ferlanda Fox Nixon, Esq., Chief of Policy and External Affairs at The African American Chamber of Commerce of NJ and Maggie Peters, Program Manager of New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA).
