Director of Institutional Outreach and Alumni AssociationBio: An exhorter with an infectious smile and jovial personality, Shelly has extensive political and government experience, specializing in constituent relations, non-profit sector, legislative affairs, and leadership development.Shelly L. Bell made history on November 3, 2020, as the first African-American elected to serve on the Township Committee in Montgomery, NJ. She was the highest vote getter in the history and has launched a movement of excitement in her town.Shelly completed an Associate’s Degree in Biblical Studies, a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Pillar College. Ms. Bell is a Fellow of Leadership Newark, Leadership Somerset, Princeton University Black Leadership Institute, and the Governing Institute on Public Policy.

What does Pillar College mean to you? I am an Ordained Minister with many years of congregational ministry experience, but Pillar College has prepared and positioned me to serve in ministries that transcend denominational lines.Pillar College has equipped me with the tools and confidence in the field of counseling. I have always been passionate about empowering women. Now, I can provide coping and communication techniques to help women unlock their potential, embrace their purpose and point them to Jesus!YHWH choose Pillar for me because He had unique plans for me. Proverbs 3: 5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your way, submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
